BNP vows to stage its festival
08:00 – 05 April 2008
A BNP member has vowed that his party’s annual festival will take place in Derbyshire again this year, even if permission is not granted for alcohol to be sold on site.
An application to play music and sell drink at the Red, White and Blue festival was registered with Amber Valley Borough Council on Tuesday.
But Alan Warner says he will host the event on his land in Codnor-Denby Lane, Denby, on August 15 to 17 – whatever the authority’s licensing panel decides.
He said: “I own the site and I will be holding the event with or without drink or music.”
A spokeswoman for the borough council said complaints made about last year’s festival, held on the same land, will not be taken into account.
She said: “This is a completely new application, which will be considered on its own merits.”
Interested parties now have a minimum of 28 days to comment.
Comments should be sent to the council’s licensing section, Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3XE.
