The national campaign Unite against Fascism (UAF) has confirmed with us that they are mobilising against the BNP festival on August 16th. Their national secretary adds that he has “discussed this with …national union bodies and community organisation to have effective action against the BNP RWB”.
The likelihood of a really massive turnout to support local opponents of the BNP increases.

We’ve been able to confirm the details of the Licensing Panel hearing for the application lodged by the BNP for the Red White and Blue ‘festival.’ It’s taking place in the Council Chamber, Ripley Town Hall (map) on 10 June 2008 at 7pm.
This is a public meeting but due to limited seating availability, a door list will be in operation, giving priority entrance to people who have made valid representations, the applicant and their representatives.
Any remaining allocation will then be given to the general public who wish to attend.
Of course, if you can’t get in we’ll be holding a protest outside. Try to get there as soon after 6pm as you can for 7pm.

Our campaign involves activists from a wide number of unions and we have received support from many unions already. But we still urgently need further financial and organisational support from the trade union movement. Please move this draft motion through your trade union organisation, open from the link here.
Note/ updated to include info about UAF support

Back in April we wrote about plan’s by Alan Warner to use his land for a further festival after Red White and Blue has finished. The licensing application for this event appears to have been submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council yesterday and can be viewed on their website.
The licence covers the period from Friday 22 – Monday 24 August (i.e. the weekend immediately after Red White and Blue), but there doesn’t seem to be anything planned for the Monday. Should you be interested in finding out more, the reference number for the application is 08/00728/PRLIC. The public consultation period closes on Wednesday 11 June.
